1. What is a Halogen Bulb?
A halogen bulb is a light bulb which contains tungsten filaments (the part that causes it to glow) and is filled with a halogen gas. The halogen bulb
can burn considerably hotter and brighter than incandescent (regular) light bulbs. Halogen light appears clearer or whiter and generally those bulbs
last longer because they are a more efficient conductor of light. Halogen bulbs can be compromised if the surface is contaminated by grease or dirt
so handle them with a clean dry cloth and do not allow the glass to come in contact with your skin.

2. What is a Fluorescent Bulb?
Gas inside a fluorescent "excites" as electricity runs through the bulb thus causing it to glow. Fluorescent bulbs are more efficient than Halogen or
incandescent bulbs and are available in a variety of colors. Being gas-based, fluorescent lights require a "ballast"  in order to regulate the flow of
electricity throughout the bulb, for this reason dimmers are usually not compatible with fluorescent light bulbs.

3. What is a Xenon Light Bulb?
Xenon is similar to halogen yet contains a inert gas other than Xenon. Typically the light is clearer and brighter than halogen lights. You can find
Xenon bulbs in popular under-cabinet and art lights even though they are relatively new.

4. What is an LED Light?
LED is an acronym for: Light Emitting Diode. A LED emits light energy as electricity passes through the bulb. LED's have grown in popularity as a
highly efficient energy source. LED lighting is already a standard in the electronic industry and is presently advancing into household lighting.

5. Why Do My Light Bulbs Constantly Burn Out?
Bulbs commonly burn out when they are too high of a wattage for the fixture they are in. The light can become overly hot and cause the elements to
burn out. Remember to check the fixture for bulb size recommendations. Another cause of bulb fatigue is a loose or faulty electrical connection.

6. Why Does My Light "Hum?"
One reason lights "hum" is because the bulbs and/or ballast are ready to be changed out, or it may be that they are poor quality or improperly sized.
Avoid this common problem by using the correct type of bulb and one that is the right wattage for your fixture.

7. How Do I Get A Broken Bulb Out of a Socket?
Always be sure to switch off the power since this is a dangerous situation. One idea is to use a new light bulb to back-out the broken one from the
socket. Simply press the new bulb in and turn it counterclockwise; not pressing too hard. If it will not release; call a licensed electrician.
